HIT BETWEEN THE EYES BY A BLAST OF "ENERGY"

I had forgotten about the 'Guru film' and had moved on happily working, surfing, and loving my new role as a Dad.

Six months later, I received a call from my friend asking if I could take photos of his Guru arriving in Sydney as part of a world tour.

Not having anything better to do, I agreed. I didn't know what to expect. I was just doing a favor.

Allowed onto the tarmac...literally at the bottom of the stairs for disembarking from the plane, I was imagining what this 'Guru' would look/be like 'in person'.

The door of the plane swung open..

What the!!!!

There wasn't a Guru in flowing white robes carrying a huge bunch of flowers with a transcendental smile.

This was a 'dude' dressed in vibrant orange robes, shawl thrown casually around his shoulders, and a pair of the coolest sunglasses topped off with a... beanie! No flowers! No white flowing robes.

This must be a jazz musician, not the Guru. Then, in a blur of orange, he was down the stairs.

As my first photograph went from blurry into focus, he pointed directly at me, into the center of the viewfinder's focus ring.

What hit me?

A wave of energy hit me, I felt stunned and ... blissful, similar to my experience on top of the mountain, but even more intense.

He slapped me on the back, and talking directly to me, his interpreter told me he was asking me to carry his bag.

I took it, and immediately almost felt drunk with energy.

I had kind of integrated 'bliss' into my being, or more likely suppressed it, but here was someone who could actually transmit the experience, and at the same time be in complete and utter focused command of himself and all around him.

Trying to work out what had just happened, I followed him up to the house where he was staying.

I immediately went to the back of the house to the verandah, where he was now sitting facing approximately forty people. They all sat respectfully facing him in palpable silence.

He sat on a large cushion, beside him on either side were other cushions...enticingly empty...There was no-where to sit

except for those cushions.

Cheeky!

Confident he would be happy to see me and his bag, I smiled and settled comfortably beside him on one of the cushions. There was a single gasp from the group, as it was seen as almost blasphemous to be on the same level as the Guru.

In true blissful ignorance, I made myself comfortable, he gave me a beautiful smile, handed me a chocolate, and I felt my heart melt.

Another gasp, I only discovered later the privilege of receiving 'prasad', a gift of food from a Guru imbued with 'Shakti'.

Looking directly at me, He then picked up a pen and drew two triangles on the pillow, which formed the star of David, paused, looked me in the eye again, then, drawing my eyes downward, with a flourish, put a simple single dot in the center of this graphic.

I learned the significance of this simple drawing later, how the triangles represented the upward and downward movement of the mind, and the dot represented the ' Realised Self ', pinning them at the center, stopping the movement which can cause chaos, instability and separation.

What a unique opportunity it had been to have given this simple and direct insight and experience.

We attended as many other opportunities as possible to be in his company while he was in Sydney...as being in his presence and his discourses helped me with the understanding of what was being 'revealed', or uncovered within me, and what it was that I had and was experiencing.

It was as simple...and as hard... as that, and one of the mantras he shared to meditate on was translated to:

"I am That"

This succinctly summed up the exact thought I had 'experienced' on top of the mountain. I again later learned this was one of the main mantras that had been used in meditation, and taught since time virtually immemorial by great Masters

Sitting on the verandah, or in halls, with only a hundred people or so, little could we imagine that in a few years thousands would be filling halls to hear him teaching and attending 'intensives' where he transmitted 'shakti'.

We connected with some of his followers who became close friends, again, actors, musicians, writers, and just generally counter-culturists.

It also expanded Dee's world as most of the families we were closest to had children of the same age.

Leaving us to digest our new way of understanding and experiences and getting to know our expanded circle of friends even more, he left to continue the world tour.

SIDDHA is defined as "one who is accomplished,"a  Master who has achieved a high degree of spiritual perfection or "enlightenment". (wixpwedia)

SHAKTI is defined as the primordial cosmic energy ,the dynamic force that is thought to move through the entire universe in Hinduism and Shaktism”.(wixpwedia)

Masters say this is the Divine Energy at the heart of all visible and invisible in the Universe, and we are a 'microcosm of the macrocosm'.

SIDDHA GURU is a Master immersed in this loving, creative and intelligent energy.

SHAKTIPAT is the power of a Siddha Guru to transmit a direct experience of the 'Shakti' to another person.

I

A television interview given in the garden of his host's home, soon huge venues would be filled with inquiring minds and hearts

t is also said the receiving of 'Shaktipat' awakens the 'Kundalini', the subtle energy that lies dormant at the base of the spine, and that once 'awoken' creates union and immersion with this energy creating a sense of non duality', no longer separated from everything but being at the heart of the source.- the true "union" of Yoga.Quantam physics are also now seeing this underlying energy, but  exploring from an objective point of view, while the Masters experienced it from inner subjective exploration.
